After university, Gary decided he wanted to challenge his worldview by working in an international environment. He began this journey by accepting the position of HR Analyst at Accenture for an eight-month internship.

Gary’s role is to manage the entire HR academy for 70 young professionals – from attracting potential applicants, outlining training calendars, managing their performance and facilitating them with their career development needs.

This is a two-year ‘work-study’ program jointed launched by Accenture and the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) that will groom HR talents in the information technology and outsourcing sectors to cater to Indian burgeoning business needs.

Gary was very excited to work in a dynamic workplace together with 3,200 employees in consulting, technology and outsourcing fields. “Committed to delivering innovative talent management process, Accenture allows me to take initiatives in designing simple and effective workflows which enable the organization to realize the greatest possible values from their people” he said.

India, one of the most ancient countries with incredibly diverse and rich culture fascinated Gary and challenged his worldview. The undeveloped infrastructure and unexpected protests in India present some challenges in his daily life, yet Gary saw them as a way to develop his patience and resilience.

Gary concludes his eight months in India are an unmatched, life-changing experience that allowed him to learn skills useful later in his career, as well as how to appreciate humanity, empower an international youth community in Bangalore and most importantly, follow his passion in developing high potential people.
