Misha’s reason for going on an internship with AIESEC is simple: “A new environment, a challenging job, and a life-time experience were combinations of an international opportunity that I was constantly looking for,” she says. This kind of opportunity is something that many people in her home country of Kenya would never even dream of experiencing. Misha accepted an internship at MMRS Ogilvy in Ghana, where she worked as an Account Executive in the Client Services Department. Although she had never worked in an advertising agency before, with this new experience Misha fostered a strong interest in building brands, and realized this is a field she would like to explore in her future career. To Misha, there is no equivalent experience to being in a foreign country and experiencing something so rich at her age. The experience of learning to integrate into a new culture, trying new foods and practicing a new language teaches you so much about who you are and how you adapt to new things and new environments. Above all of this it gives you the opportunity to learn more skills to develop your future career, while having fun at the same time. Misha decided to go on an internship to experience the business nature and environment of another country, which she could compare to that she knew of her home in Kenya. She wanted to challenge her skills, strengths and competencies in a foreign environment, and see how they would compare to being in a familiar place. In all, the culture challenge and feeling that she was positively contributing to making a difference in the company she was working in, made the experience an incredible one.
