Dear Dad I am sorry I never got to meet you, I am sorry I never got to say “Daddy” And see a smile upon your face I am sorry we never got to play I am sorry you never got to trim my nails Nor show me how to lace my shoes I am sorry you never took me to school I am sorry you never heard the accolades Nor watch me graduate and celebrate I am sorry you never knew of my first job I am sorry you never saw my first pay And how happy I was when I got a raise I am sorry you never got to meet my Miss I am sorry to know my wedding you missed A father’s pride no longer yours I am sorry you did not see my new home I am sorry you did not hear The joyful cry of my baby son I am sorry you will not get to see me learn To be a worthy father I am sorry you are not there To see this fruit of your lions I am sorry you made this choice To leave me and my mother I am not sorry I have to say “I succeeded Anyway!” « return. |
