Really, Nigerians, we have had the key to the door leading to fulfilled dreams all this while right under our noses. You ask, how? What?
I say, have you ever bothered to consider the words of the stanza 2 of the national anthem? There, there. A light of recognition is going on in your brain, right? Yes. Have you ever gone through the words, rolling them over your tongues, feeling their taste and absorbing their meanings? Brothers and Sisters, I believe it's time we took that prayer to heart. Our stanza 2 is a prayer. And that's the only thing that could get us out of this rut we find ourselves in. Sincere!
For all of you who are not too familiar with the stanza, here it is:
O God of Creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leader’s right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice
shall reign.
AMEN!
I hope we all would live up to it. Thanks.

My poetry is molded & forged by & on the bellows, anvils of such as Lemn Sissay, Lenrie Peters, Wole Soyinka, Tunde Olusunle, Karen King-Aribisala, Jack Mapanje, Agostinho Neto, Nikki Giovanni, Gwendolyn Brooks, Eugene B. Redmond and some more obscure poets. I mostly work in free verse but sometimes restrict myself to forms for a change of pace.
