Peace & Conflict   Short Stories

The youth in Africa has a lot to do as regards the conflict situation in Africa. In all the conflict that has been occurring, the youth are the perpetrators and at the same time victims of the wars. They end up not going to school and becoming hooligans and of course end up as wayward young people that are suppose to be useful to themselves and their communities. They even indulge in crimes during and after conflict situations.

For example, in the Niger Delta in Nigeria, so many lives have been lost due to youth violence and so many families have been displaced due to incessant burning of houses and police posts that are supposed to provide security.

At this point I strongly feel the time has come for the youth to be actively involved in all community development. Both governmental and non-governmental organization should try to make the youth active in every area of development so that the youth will now understand the gravity of their action during conflict and begin to have a changed attitude towards a peaceful and co-existing living instead of violence.
