What do people get out of racism, I mean, does it make one feel special or important to know they have made someone of another race or culture sad. You know, if you think about it, it is pointless, here in Canada, Indians, Asian, Africans, Americans and others are teased each day about their cultures, but what about if a Canadian traveled to India, China, Africa or America, would we too be tormented on a daily basis? And not to say this only happens in Canada, but me being from Canada that’s the only place I've seen it, but it happens every where, every day. But this is only one country and one race, any one makes fun of any race

I think racism is wrong because then that turns into a big war.

Racism brings a lot of unnecessary inconveniences all around the world, and it also reminds you that you are inferior just for being different.
Racism goes beyond black and white. I know because I am a Latina, but my skin is white, and I can see that I am not discriminated until I reveal where I am from (which I proudly do on a daily basis) and my accent often doesn't help either.
I think Racism is just as stupid as any other type of discrimination, but also that it is more complex than it is thought.
Peace!

Cause and effect. Dave Barrera | Jun 26th, 2003
Every event, incident or idea on earth has a cause and an effect or multiplicity of both. What is the cause of Racism? Who are the ones who make this happen? Does any one profit from Racism? Is this a problem? If it is so,who needs help the racist or the victim? What is Racism?
When there is Terrorism the powers that be get together and fight it to the death! When hter si just a Threat to national security i any powerful nation, then measure are taken, and serious ones for that matter. But when it comes to Racism who cares? I am not being hurt or I am not a racist for I have a black friend or a chinese friend! Why not just a friend but an adjetivised one? I have one question for all the racists out there: is racism a system,a theory,a school of thuought,a principle,a movement,an idea,a doctrine,an approach or just a traditdion? Racists or to the racial engineers we are human beings and no matter your nationality or so-called racial make up you are a human being and if you discriminate against one human being on any basis yo are by logic discriminating yourself. Are you ready to debate?

i totally agree with you leanne P. I lived in christchurch(nz) for 10years and i recieved constant insults and redicule from primary teachers and became a victim of bullying. Why? because i am a new zealand MAORI(indegenous group)-thats why and it couldn't be a better time for all of us as good role models to sent the message that Racism is deadly.
statistics show that 90 percent of newzealanders talk about topics relation to racism....to offend or not.
I must admitt that the human race in majorityn are very stubborn and it is stubborness that has brought problems into tragedy. but we have all the time in the world to resovle this ''stubborness''.

All of us is cool.We just look different. We can still love each other even thought we are different and come from a different world.Don't judge by the appearence. We can still be friends. We wont have to offend each other to have peace. We CAN have peace if we all just love each other.together we all make a big family.

When do people learn? Ivy Zhang | Nov 6th, 2003
I totally agree with you leanne. People thinkt they're soo cool making fun of other people thinking they're the best, even though they're not. I don't even know why they are being racist. Whats so good about making fun of people with different culture? Why don't you just learn from them and understand more things if you just be friends with them. Racism is not for put-downs. In fact, racism is not for anything. All of us look different and act different, but that doesn't mean we don't have equal rights. You might even hate someone that comes from the same culture as you. Are you going to say something bad about their culture? I don't think so. Racism is definitely NOT needed in canada, america, japan, anywhere, you name em! Everyone is unique differently and no matter what, you can't change that. Great article leanne!

Well, I can also relate to racism/bullying I will speak as a victim. When I was in 5th grade I was bullied by others when I said that I was born an American Citizen, but my parents are actually from different cultures. I was bullied until I bled. I even considered suicide, because I couldn't stand it any longer. But then I asked myself. What would happen when I was gone? Would mother and father cry? Would it be worth it? Or should I still keep going to school with those racist kids? Sometimes I even wonder if those boys' parents even knew what happened in school. If the teachers ever punished them. NOOOO!!!!! The damn teachers were racist with me as well. I was so hurt. I was even sexually harassed by the gatekeeper, and the students as well. I hurted so much I wish I were never even there. I wish I were back in the States. But if I had to survive I had to stay put, and keep holding on. For lunch I always had to go to the balcony so that I could eat peacefully. Nobody knew where I was. I also had to protect my little brother from those monsters. Yep, that's how I saw them then, as monsters, trying to kill a young child like me and my young brother. I wonder. Have any of you people ever been a victim? Have any of you known the pain? Why would people treat each other that way? We have the same blood, we are all humans we are all made by the same God. Why would you do that? No matter the skin color, no matter your race. We're all the same. Everyone should know that. Right now I'm a sixteen-year old girl. Trying to forget my past, but it keeps haunting me, and that is why I want other people to know that if you ruin a person's life you might as well live with the guilt of doing what you did.
