“Hey, how are you guys?” she asked. “Having fun?”
“Yeah, it has been great,” I replied. “Didn’t do much but it was fun spending time with her.”
“Oh okay. So where are you now?”
“Here in Quezon City.”
“As always.”
“Haha...yeah. And how’s your night out?”
“Not bad… very much relieved. Thankful that I got the chance to see my friends again.”
“That’s good.”
“Anyway, we’re almost done so can you bring her here now?”
“Sure, will be there soon.”
“Okay, bye. See you.”
She put down the phone, but she forgot to hang up.
“Hello?! You didn’t hang up, you’re still there,” I said, trying to call her attention.
A few seconds later, I heard a sob on the other side of the line. She was weeping. Apparently, she was in the toilet all those time, relieving her self of the emotional strain put upon her as she confided to her friends. One of them came in to try and comfort her.
And the cries continued as I tried to ascertain the situation. Her tears were falling profusely, I figured.
“Why? Why is she crying?”
Then I heard a female voice.
“You’ll be fine. Everything’s gonna turn out alright, girl,” she said, hugging her.
“I know,” she replied. “He has always been there, and I never even acknowledged his presence. I have all the reason to believe that he loves the kid,” she added, “But why was he not the father?”
