In Our Kingdom Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Awa Innocent Ndah, Cameroon Jan 19, 2007
Human Rights   Poetry

In our kingdom peace reigns from north to south
If not for their flashy and stereotype norms.
In our kingdom nobody is a persona non Grata
Because we do not have clench teeth guards
In armors fiercely ready to pounce on “immigrants.”
In our kingdom food is never in absence
Though served the way it usually looks
And thanks to the type of cooks we have.
In our kingdom there is orderliness, discipline
And the connotative respect of every body's rights
And thoughts, and dreams.
In our kingdom we are kings and not megalomania's,
I have a royal crown, robe and scepter,
And our council of elders.
In our kingdoms there is no fortress
But there is a Berlin Wall against predators and usurpers,
Our entrance is our only exit.
In our kingdom, God is our keeper;
I am every body's keeper and everybody mine,
We are true to ourselves.
In our kingdom we respect our ancestors
And their words of wisdom,
It is the very source of our survival.
In our kingdom, it is often said,
“It is better to suffer injustice
Than to practice injustice.”

(Dedicated to all the victims of violence and injustice.)

In Our Kingdom
Kate Alyzon B. Ramil | Jan 30th, 2007
I hope to belong in that kingdom. I like these lines a lot: In our kingdom we respect our ancestors And their words of wisdom, It is the very source of our survival.
