If you want to visit an hispanic country and you believe you have a good knowledge of spanish, you will probablyl be surprised by strange words that you never learned. These words are slangs (Jergas) and are common words that people use in their daily lives.

First of all you have to consider the region or country where you'll spend your trip. Next you'll need to understand the context of the sentence or phrase that your latin partners speaks for finding a close meaning of those strange words. Finally, If you don't understand anything ask for help... (..."dame una mano"...)

This article isn't a guide for spanish slangs, it's only a brief compilation of some spanish slangs used in Latin America, especially in Peru. If you want to take a "Master" in spanish slangs the best way is to visit a hispanic country, discovering new slangs by taking an inmmersion in a latin society and have fun speaking with latin people without any restrictions and with plenty of freedom. Don't be worried they will teach you.

Now take a look at this brief list of spanish slangs:

- "Guita", "Mangos" (Arg/Per) = Money
- "Verdes" (Per) = US. Dollars
- "No pitees" (Per) = Don't complain
- "Tío" (Spa/Per) = You - Friend
- "Pata", "Causa" (Per) = Close Friend
- "Merco", "Richie" (Per) = Meal
- "Trago" (Lat.A) = Alcoholic drink
- "Ruca" (Per) = *****
- "Telo" (Per) = "Hotel
- "No Jodas" (Spa/Lat.A) = "Don't bother me"
- "¡Coño!",¡Carajo!" (Spa/Lat. A) = "Damn!"
- "¡Mierda!" (Lat.A) = "Shit!"
- "Una jalada, tío" (Per) = "Give me a hitchhiking, friend"
- "Porfa" (Per) = "Please"
- "Metele letra" (Per) = "Speak with her or him"
- "Chimbombo", "Chivo" (Per) = "Gay"
- "Ñorsa", "Seño" (Per) = "Lady"
- "Fierro" (Per) = "Gun"
- "Quemalo" (Per) = "Killing"
- "Chancon" (Per) = "Nerd"
- "Vamos a jamear" (Per) = "Let's take a meal"
- "No te paltees" (Per) = "Don't be nervous"
- "Pa la genti" (Per) = "That's for my friends"
- "Foneame" (Per) = "Phone me"
- "Tengo una arruga" (Per) = "I have a debt"
- "Estas de pelos" (Mex) = "You look cool"
- "Cuero" (Per) = "Beauty or Handsome"
- "Estas fuerte" (Per) = "You are hot"
- "Vamos a follar" (Spa/Per) = "Let's make love"
- "Es una trafa" (Per) = "It's a big robbery"
- "Palero" (Per) = "Liar"
- "Dame un ripio" (Arg/Per) = "Give some coins"
- "Mi cuate" (Mex) = "My friend"
- "Latear" (Per) = "Walk"
- "Gorrear" (Per) = "To ask something to someone"
- "Pituco" (Per) = "Snob"
- "Boludo", "Filipollas", "Huevon" (Arg/Spa/Per) = "Foolish"

Well this a first step of learning some spanish slangs and for understanding a little part of Latin culture. Don't be afraid for using these words, but I don't recommend that you use these for a business meeting, while in a nice restaurant or with citizens for whom you have respect... Perhaps snobs... I mean ( Pitucos = Per )

"Chaufa!" (Per) = "Bye!"
