March 2014: Global Health
Out of the 8 Millennium Development Goals, 3 of them relate to health which are MDGs 4, 5 and 6 which have as goals to reduce child mortality rates, Improve maternal health and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases respectively.
While progress towards achieving these goals have been bearing fruits in some regions and continents of the world, others still witness slow progress and even regress in some cases such as in Sub-Saharan Africa. This brings us to question our health systems, policies and programmes. What's working? How far are our health systems in place effective and responsive to the needs of citizens? What are the social systems put in place to cater for the vulnerable? What is the role of our government and civil society in closing the gabs that currently exist with regard to health? Is there anything we can do to fix these issues as young people? Do you have any pathologies that are affecting your country/community? Here are your submission.
