Truth is truth and men are men
Let me tell the whole truth about deeds of men
From the beginning to the end
You only break me where you claim to mend
Even if you dismiss it as an old story
It is still true so I recall my history
I and my own you looted, enslaved and subdued
Dominated and abusively ruled
Today your exploitations have only taken a different form
It may be so subtle it goes unnoticed but it is still the norm
Give a little through one channel
Only to claim back more in a route that is parallel
I should be eternally grateful for your “help”, shouldn’t I?
The more you “generously give”, the more I die, oh why?
While you perform your obligation to give me aid
You do not give the time of day to my trade
The aid is only to partially solve the crisis of today
All the aid is of no effect in the face of debt, its nemesis
Might not trade just build strong economies’ foundations
to guarantee a future of prosperity for my coming generations?
How am I supposed to raise money to repay all my debts?
To all of you big trading and gloriously rich states,
when all you allow me on the global market is no less than bets?
For me this help only begets liability
Do any of you really care about my sustainability?
You can blame my people’s corruption all you want
but have you given more than a momentary grant?
When all is said and done,
when all forms of exploitation are seemingly gone,
surely people are just what and who they are.
Taking more than they ever intend to give, by far?
Surely even though it looks and sounds better than before
It really is much worse than ever when you look and see more?
For not even slavery and liberation wars killed more than AIDS and poverty
Would not I cope better on my own if by now I had financial and economic liberty?
