How they lost Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by melanie mae, United States Nov 20, 2004
Health   Poetry

Weary, I swam the sandy sea
and the cold wet faces of unfilled streets
climbed the high mountains of drunken glee,
many people did I meet.

Who cried and told me tales of love and war
What could divide them, theft, or pain, or shock?
No. It was something else,
a trinket score.

All the blood and sweat and tears came undone--
They now had cocaine, and heroin whole
A gram was how they lost their joy and fun.
Where resin seeped into the now void bowl
and injected venom in tired veins
glittering eyes now became bloodied stains.
