Oh Lord! For how long will paupers
Remain in this horrible state?
They get kicked around like lepers
By political “juggernauts”
They don’t get a fair share of anything
Because like the ignorant and nonchalant
“Bigwigs” put it
‘They are problematic and deserve to be in
A trash can’
Oh Lord! Isn’t this bereavement
Though they haven’t lost a relation?
The bourgeoisies cruise around town in
Flashy, alluring and cozy “steel horses”
Screeching tires frightening the “have not”
Hooting horns deafening their ears
While blinding headlamps make them
Blink and miss their footings
Their rubber legs slam into puddle of water
Raining mud on proletariats
Oh Lord! What a horrible, malevolent, insane
And wicked country Nigeria is?
They force the poor to seek “political asylum”
Which cannot come their way without
“Talking papers”
They promise to make life worth living
By ameliorating poverty but end up
Making a mess of it by aggravating the situation
Oh Lord! Evil conspires with madness to waste us all
How can the down-trodden survive these?
You are the refuge of these “free bondage” persons
Your wrath is more intense and explosive
Than a volcanic eruption
We will wait patiently for it but
The transgressors won’t escape it

Writer Profile
kevin M
I am a Nigerian and an avid reader who also take great pleasure in putting pen on paper. I believe that with the right expression of words written with my pen people could change for the better and correct or curb some ills eating deep into our system of government or life in general. Poverty and corruption have always been Africa's most dreaded diseases and Nigeria is no exception. I write fiction and non-fiction and also write articles on any subject, especially that concerning the well-being of the poor masses. I wish to be an acclaimed writer and author and a motivational speaker
