A lifetime chasing a dream Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

My dream,
It has always been
But was always a little too far
Just an inch..
But out of reach
No fulfillment was possible

I take my hand out and try to get it
It keeps getting away
I try my best to follow it
Escape it does real well
Now I follow it
If I can
Suddenly, I'm all alone
Everything is left behind
This is where I am
Who I am

An endless path to nowhere..
This continuous road, the same everywhere.
The eternal symmetry of winding patterns,
Which I'm growing really tired of.
A very tiring journey,
That has no destination.

I seem to be walking and walking
But never moving ahead.
I don't go forward,
Even though I take a step.
My dream being right in front of me
To be that great
Somebody
It's an inspiration
An innovation
The only one I have.

This boring plain,
This dusty path,
It's the forlorn, deserted way,
But I know that it's right
Even if it's hard,
And I'm all alone on it.
It's my choice, and
I know it stands out.
Nobody else wants to live for others
And sacrifice their own life!
It's always been my dream,
Now I'm out to satisfy it.

At last,
I've reached somewhere
It's been a long while,
Now time for a change.
Hoping it works,
I'll think of a plan.
Maybe I'll ask for a hand
Will anyone help me?

Go ahead, speak up!
You may have to strive
But you'll be doing the right thing.
You'll feel content
And warm in your heart.

But regrettably,
As I said before,
I'm unique,
And maybe alone.
Many people may care
But they're all too scared
To take that big step.

So off I go
Once more.
It's a tough experience.
Only those
Who have a real heart
Can do it.

Many years later
I reach a place again
A dead end
How could it be?
I was so sure
But it is what it is
So it's all over
My life is up
My dream is gone
Far and too far
To ever retrieve
But it's okay
I did my part
I tried my best

Yeah right...
As I close my eyes
I see my dream once again
Right in front of me
But when I reach out
It's just too far.
Maybe if there were
Some other people out there who tried
We could do it together
Alas, that is not so
And my dream will always be
In front of me
But too far
As it always was....

The person's dream was to change our world and do something for which he/ she would be remembered by. Today, he/ she is well known and truly remembered. I wrote this poetry as if I were that person whom I choose not to reveal. This poetry is to inform people to join and work together as one. I encourage you all to go get the dream you have because it is really not that hard and it is very important. Even if it is difficult, you needn't be alone like he/ she was. You can all be there: chasing the dream and living a life of dreams. Because, in fact, dreams are life!
