Dedicated to Reuben Beukes 17.04.2007

I still remember that first time when we met,
I didn’t think so soon you’d have me dressed in all black.
I thought we were still going to do so much together,
but again I’m reminded that nothing lasts forever.
It feels like we were robbed, why so few days?
Why so soon I got to stand over your grave?
You had so much potential, you were going places,
now you’re gone, and we’re left with sad faces.
I still can’t believe it, it just doesn’t seem true,
Man… so many people are going to miss you.
What hurts me most is the pain your mom & sisters feel,
they lost a special brother & son, and that’s for real.
I reminisce on the conversations that we had,
You were a real entertainer, always made us laugh.
But now: no more you making jokes, no sound of you laughing,
only moments of silence- that’s all that we’re having.
I wish I had the chance to let our friendship grow,
but now it’s over and you’re buried below.
Now we’re wiping away tears thinking about the past days,
wishing that you we’re here and that you weren’t taken away.
But we don’t get to decide when its time to go,
It was already written, we just didn’t know.
Me & Owen are going to miss you man.
Rest in peace Reuben… till we meet again.
