Too full to let us breath,
The bus stops at checkpoint,
Only one luggage allowed,
Life is what each of us carried.
I was pointed to step down,
Promised I will be safer,
Offered better options,
As I am considered to be white.
I said no to the offer,
I am better off with others,
I am only half white anyways,
The black soldier got angry.
We were all running for life,
Our homes were ruined,
Relatives lost in mist of guns,
No where safe and trust was lost.
I am so scared now than ever,
I don’t have identity with any group,
My fate is no longer in my hands,
Tears refused to come out anymore.
Why should we judge by color?
I don’t carry one of them but both,
Now where is my group?
The world is beyond black and white now.
Horror filled my heart when I woke up,
Realized it was all just a bad dream.
A bad dream I wish never become a reality,
A dream I don’t want to even dream it again.
