Welcome to the Dispatch
The theme for the month of September is Peace, Conflict and Governance, an important theme to focus on as people all over the world are continually managing conflict, attempting to create peace and seeking out better governance. As young and empowered global citizens our members will inherit the responsibilities of maintaining peace, resolving conflict and improving governance, that is why TakingITGlobal's mission of social networking for social good is so important. All young people should have a part, now and in the future, in decisions affecting the peace, conflict and governance of their own lives and communities.

International Days
On September 8th TakingITGlobal celebrated the International Day of Literacy, a day devoted to recognizing the important role literacy plays in social development and bringing attention to those for whom literacy is still an obstacle to be overcome.
In recognition of this important day we encouraged TakingITGlobal members to participate in our recently created Book Discussion thread in the TIG Discussion boards. Participate here:

The International Day of Peace is on September 21st, on this day gatherings and vigils will be held all over the world where young and old alike will turn their thoughts, prayers and hopes to peace. An interesting organization connected to the peace movement is Decade to Overcome Violence (DOV) which aims to strengthen existing efforts and networks for overcoming violence, as well as inspire the creation of new ones.
