What started on September 17th as an occupation of a park near Wall Street in New York has steadily gained momentum, growing into a global movement through social media, live streams and ongoing demonstrations. On October 15th, the occupy movement went global with a series of local occupy events. Globally, over 2,500 people have been arrested so far for peacefully demonstrating, and many have been assaulted by police.
Discuss and share your thoughts on this new trend in youth activism on our discussion boards. Also, show us how you feel by submitting a photo to our Global Gallery. All you need is a big blank sheet of paper, a marker, and a camera: write your message to the occupy movement and submit it to this gallery set. The winner will receive an $80 donation to be given to the #occupy movement of their choice.

Rio Game Changer Petition
|
In June 2012 we will have a unique opportunity to change the sustainability scenario at a global level: the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio+20. We are all tired of fruitless meetings and political barriers while the world's social, economic and environmental problems dramatically worsen. The technical and social solutions already exist, and it's intolerable that they are still blocked by selfish actions and short-term interests. Heads of state and global leaders: we, citizens of the world, want you at Rio+20! And expect you to be ready for solid and coherent decisions!
Find out more and sign the petition!
Project Page for Rio+20: Also related to Rio, TIG has a brand new project to coordinate and share information in advance of the upcoming meeting. If you are interested in mobilizing further around this event and want to stay up to date with accreditation information and opportunities to spread the word, join our project and contribute your thoughts and ideas. Let's create a better world.
