    Child Rights

In the month of June we commemorate two important events, namely International Children day on June 1st, and World Day Against Child Labour on June 12th. The protection of children rights remains one of the more important vanguards of our time. More than the adults of tomorrow, children are an integral component of their communities and social fabric in the present. They are human beings and as such should be guaranteed the equality and dignity deserving of every person inhabiting this earth. Nevertheless, children are often negated the right for a proper education, the right of expression, the right to nutrition, the right for protection from neglect and exploitation, and for basic health care and shelter. Often exposed to unfavorable living conditions, children are not even awarded their right to survival. As we celebrate International Children Day and World Day against Child Labour, we lend our support for the creation of internationally held legal standards against which all nations and persons can be upheld.

    Raising Leaders

Next month's issue will revolve around the theme of 'Raising Leaders.' On the first Saturday of July each year, we commemorate International Day of Cooperatives in an attempt to recognize, strengthen and raise awareness of the vitality cooperatives have for the world's economic, social and cultural development. This vision of local development is an engine which relies on the strength of tomorrow's leaders. Implementing an effective strategy for fostering leadership in children and young adult largely depends on nurturing personal development and putting emphasis on innovative change, education, and community engagement. This vision includes the creation of strong social networks and bonds that encourage youth to approach life with passion, fortitude and a sense of responsibility. Check our Sprout E-course page to explore more resources for youth-led social innovation.

Adobe Youth Voices presents...

TakingITGlobal is proud to announce the successful conclusion of our first Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) cycle. AYV at TIG aims to engage young people from all over the world and challenge them to think critically about local and global issues through the use of multimedia artwork. By providing a forum for creative expression, AYV enables youth to take on leadership roles, harness their energy and ideas, and allow them to bring about change through consciousness building within their communities. As a platform for self expression, AYV brought together 24 amazing organizations located in 6 different countries to engage over 1,000 youth. Take a look at some of the inspiring final projects participants created in our Global Gallery Exhibit.

Continuing this amazing work, we're preparing to launch the second cycle with additional 30 new amazing partner sites working in youth development across the globe. The new partner sites will work in collaboration with 20 sites from the previous cycle to ensure continuity in their youth programs, supporting them in empowering youth to express themselves creatively.
