EVOKE Contest Gives Youth Voice on Human Rights
|
Together, TakingITGlobal and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) launched EVOKE: a nationwide, multidisciplinary, art contest for youth. Twelve young adults aged 15-24 submitted winning art pieces that communicate powerful messages of understanding in addressing world issues. The multi digital media art contest was an opportunity for youth across the country to be empowered to make a statement about their perspective on human rights and learn more about the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Youth Voices and the Global Redesign Initiative
|
Each year the World Economic Forum identifies exceptional Young Global Leaders from every region of the world who share a commitment to shaping the global future. This year, fifteen Young Global Leaders (YGL) met together with 40 youth from Reach Out To Asia's youth development network in Qatar to share inputs on the role of youth in contributing to the Global Redesign Summit.

TakingITGlobal partners with Microsoft's Imagine Cup
|
Microsoft hosted its annual Imagine Cup competition last month in Warsaw, Poland. The Imagine Cup is a competition designed for high school and college students to make a name for themselves in the world of technology while solving real world problems. As a partner of the Imagine Cup, TakingITGlobal Co-Founder and Director of Technology Michael Furdyk was invited to present the Digital Media award to the winning student teams.

UN Opportunity Fund Invites GYAN to World Urban Forum
|
Mariana Araujo, Mexico Project Coordinator for Global Youth Action Network, a program of TakingITGlobal, was invited to this year's World Urban Forum as a representative of the United Nations Opportunity Fund. In addition to attending the World Urban Forum she received an invitation to speak at the World Urban Youth Assembly. She received both invitations after winning a UN Opportunity Fund grant on sustainable development on behalf of GYAN in 2009, a singular achievement. In 2009 GYAN was the only Mexican NGO to win a grant.
