Here's a quick update on what was "Hot and Happening" at www.tigweb.org recently:

International Day of Biological Diversity
Biodiversity is beautiful... so share the beauty! The International Day of Biological Diversity is a United Nations-sanctioned international day annually celebrated on May 22 for the promotion of biodiversity issues. This year the International Day of Biological Diversity is part of the International Year of Biodiversity, inviting the world to take action in 2010 to safeguard the variety of life on earth. Visit TakingITGlobal's Global Gallery to share your biodiversity photos, artwork, and media creations or simply to witness the inspiring submissions by other members.

World No Tobacco Day
Tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world! To draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and to the preventable death and disease it causes, the World Health Organization has introduced May 31 as World No Tobacco Day and created a provocative set of posters to mark the day. TakingITGlobal invites you to test your knowledge about tobacco and learn more about the industry through our Tobacco Card Game!

European Forum for Innovation
In an open and democratic governance process, Strategic Forum participants will define a long-term shared vision for ICT-driven innovation in Europe and beyond. The European Alliance for Innovation invite you to participate in the European Forum for Innovation, June 23rd - 25th in Trento, Italy. Free registration is open until May 30th.

Design For The First World
We live in a complex world, one full of inequities and wonderful things. We have been focusing our energy and resources on trying to solve our Developing World problems to become more like the First World. But perhaps it is time that the Third World minds focus their energy and creativity on solving some of the First World problems. Design for the First World is calling artists, designers, tinkerers, makers and thinkers with an idea to participate. There are only two conditions: you are 13 years of age or older and you were born in and now live in a Developing Country! The best designs and solutions will get a cash prize and will be featured in a beautifully designed catalogue and their work will be showcased in a gallery in New York! Competition deadline is May 30, 2010. Submit your idea now!
