International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is marked annually on March 21. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpville, South Africa, against the apartheid 'pass laws'. Proclaiming the day in 1966, the General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. Learn more about this issue, check out our member submitted articles about the issue of racism in our Panorama magazine.

World Water Day International World Water Day is held annually on March 22 as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year's campaign hopes to raise awareness about sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being through addressing the increasing water quality challenges in water management, and raising the profile of water quality by encouraging governments, organizations, communities, and individuals around the world to actively engage in proactively addressing water quality, pollution prevention, clean up and restoration. Join the global toilet queue to get your community involved and show your support. You'll be helping set a Guinness World Record and solve a global crisis at the same time!
