Here's a quick update on what was "Hot and Happening" at www.tigweb.org recently:

World AIDS Day
The AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection is one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history with over 25 million people killed by the disease. World AIDS Day, observed on December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic and how it can be stopped. Get involved with this very important issue by visiting our HIV/AIDS issue page, containing many resources on getting involved, organization profiles, youth media, and more.

"Our Voices, Our Climate" Contest Extension
Attention all TIG members, there is still time to send in your submissions for the current Global Gallery contest! TakingITGlobal wants YOU to speak out to international decision makers about how climate change is affecting your community; in a creative way of course. Submit a postcard design that illustrates what actions your government should take in hopes of building a sustainable future for us all. Contest winners will receive 30 postcards featuring their artwork as well as a webcam and the chance to create a video for TIG's homepage! Final deadline for submissions is Tuesday December 9th, 2008.

Featured Blog: Stopping the Violence in Somalia
TIG member samiraisir from North West Somalia discusses her views on what's been happening in Somalia in regards to the government corruption and the violence that has been sweeping the country. Violence of any kind is an issue that many countries around the world face daily. In cooperation with our governments, we can all do our part to work towards peace among nations and peoples. Share your thoughts on this issue with other TIG members by posting your comments.

The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery
The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, December 2, recalls the date of the adoption by the General Assembly of the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others (resolution 317 (IV) of 2 December 1949). Needless to say, this was a monumental event in human history. Express your feelings towards this historical milestone by submitting an article to Panorama!
