What does belonging look like?
A sense of belonging is a human need, like the need for food and shelter and who we are is shaped by the people who we are connected to. As a part of this understanding, TakingITGlobal along with the Samuel Family Foundation are inviting youth to share their representations of inclusion in our What Does Belonging Look Like? contest. Through this contest we invite your imagination, voice and perspective to depict visual art pieces on the theme of belonging, so that we begin to tackle the issue of isolation together. Climate Change in my Backyard Contest
With COP21 quickly approaching, the need to discuss issues surrounding climate change are becoming ever more imperative. As a part of this discussion TakingITGlobal is embarking on a collaborative storytelling project with youth around the world and we want your help! The Climate Change In My Backyard project will help us document and showcase the many ways that our own backyards are impacted by climate change. To do this we are looking for creative and impactful visuals, which will contribute to an educational children’s book and will be highlighted in Paris and COP21 and the Conference on Youth (COY11).

We recognize that your organizations have been working to take action on the many challenges facing our world today. However we also realize that we are much stronger when we work together to tackle them. As we welcome in the Sustainable Development Goals, we want to give organizations the opportunity to connect with a network of other initiatives dedicated to global action. Be a part of this new wave of change and add your project to our Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals Map.

Sprouting Ideas: Social Innovation Summer Camps
Social innovation and entrepreneurship have made it to the forefront of discussions regarding student engagement and the future of understanding and acting on some of the most challenging global issues. This summer TakingITGlobal offered five free week-long camps to help 150 students between grades 9 and 12 begin understanding concepts such as Design Thinking and social innovation. Through this process students were given the opportunity to develop a project or prototype that they pitched to a panel of experts at the end of the week.
