Welcome to the Dispatch!
At TakingITGlobal this month we're buzzing with excitement about new projects, and new volunteers in our Toronto office - and working virtually around the world. Last month, we asked you for your input on new features you'd like to see at TakingITGlobal. We've already incorporated some of them into the site, and are launching some of our own ideas (read on to hear more about the new TIG Podcasts!). Please keep sharing your ideas on our discussion boards.
TakingITGlobal is far from just a website. We're a growing organization run entirely by young people. Our annual report covering 2005 is now out, and we encourage all members to give it a read - Annual Report 2005.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the Dispatch.
In peace,
The TakingITGlobal Team

Second, we're launching our own official monthly TIG Podcast Programs, as well as shorter regular segments for subscription. These will bring together some featured member podblogs, our own interviews, and the work of young radio broadcasters from around the world. Our goal is that TIG podcasts will provide a new and compelling audio window on the way global issues, daily news, and cultural change affects the lives of young people from Nepal to Ukraine, Sri Lanka to Canada.

Youth "Raising Their Voices" for the Millennium Development Goals
Over the past year, TakingITGlobal members from Cambodia to Zambia, Uruguay to the Pacific Islands, have spread the word about the importance of the Millennium Development Goals on poverty reduction, and have taken them to their local communities.
In its latest publication, TakingITGlobal raises the voices of these young people to show the international community, that with adequate support, resources and empowerment, young people can constitute the critical mass that is needed to drive and lead the changes that need to happen if the Goals are to be achieved by 2015.
Download a copy of the publication, if you want to find inspiration and examples of activities that you could replicate in your community and use our MDG Action Blogs to report us about your own MDG activities!

Featured Country Site: Cuba
This month's featured country site is Cuba, with its pearly white beaches and palm trees, its world-famous rum and the well-guarded secret of cigars manufacture. Cuba is a multiracial society with a population of mainly Spanish and African origins, its largest religious denomination the Roman-Catholic church. The very name Cuba comes from the Taino word cubanacán, meaning a centre or central place, a constant reminder of the many indigenous influences that survive to this day. Cuba's largest Island (after 'Cuba' itself) is now known as the "Isla de la Juventud" (or "Isle of Youth"), but was previously famous as "Treasure Island". Our approximately 30 Cuban members include active volunteers, technologists, and keen observers of politics.
