++ 1. The Dispatch ++
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Following a successful bi-monthly theme on HIV/AIDS that saw many members
contribute their thoughts, writings, and artwork, TakingITGlobal is proud to
present our next theme for February and March: Women's Rights. Read articles
or write one yourself in Panorama; submit your artwork to the Global Gallery;
discuss women's issues on our discussion boards; or organize an open forum in
your city to talk about the issues in person.
2005 is well on its way, and many of our projects are in full swing. If any
of the following activities interest you, contact us and get involved!
In Friendship,
The TakingITGlobal Team

++ Wanted: Your views on Canada's role in the world ++
-----------------------------------------------------------
TakingITGlobal, in partnership with Canada25, invites you to participate and
express yourself on Canada's role in the world. As a young Canadian, this is a great
opportunity for you to reflect on Canada's role in the world, especially after the
collective response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the tsunami in the Asian
region.
Our discussion board on this topic is meant to provide an opportunity to reflect
and contribute to Canada25's "From Middle to Model Power" project. It began two years
ago, and has involved hundreds of young Canadians in an effort to raise Canada's profile
on the international scene. Out of regional roundtables and a national forum came an
innovative and ground breaking report: "From Middle to Model Power: Recharging Canada's
Role in the World".
So, in partnership, TakingITGlobal and Canada25 hope that young people worldwide will
continue to contribute to this process through on-line discussion. We invite you to read
(or browse) through the report, reflect and discuss!

++ 2. Monthly Theme: Women's Rights ++
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the WAG - the Women's Art Gallery! Tour our gallery and explore
women's issues in each room of this virtual environment. Every room has a
theme – Language, Bodies, Global Inequalities, Feminism, Work, Resisting
Violence – that contains artwork, photographs, and other objects revealing
information on the subject. We chose this concept for the monthly theme because
a gallery is a colourful, creative, and living space. An art gallery breeds
reflection, analysis and appreciation for a life’s work. The Women's Art
Gallery celebrates the women who devote their lives to what they are passionate
about – whether it be art, or labour rights, sustainable development, violence
awareness, and feminism.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
++ 3. Global Gallery: To Be a Woman ++
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Each woman should be equal in her rights to every other woman and man on
Earth and this far too often is not the case. Discrimination is not only a
history but a process that is fueled everyday. It goes beyond categories, builds
categories like walls, and uses words like fences; discrimination ignores basic
rights and needs to be understood, challenged, and altered.
The aim of this contest is to explore true feelings and emotions: the brutal
negativities of discrimination, desperation and exploitation, and above all the
wonderfulness of change, true feeling, and freedom. Each woman (and person) is
unique and has the right to their beautiful uniqueness. Express the feeling,
emotion and uniqueness of a woman in an image. The contest will open on February
1, 2005 and close on March 31: http://gallery.takingitglobal.org/contest
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
++ 4. Panorama: Writing By, For, and About Women ++
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Read articles and poems about women's issues as related to the beauty industry,
health, violence, poverty, Islam, music and many more topics. Contribute your
articles to Panorama throughout the month of February and March to be added
to the issue on women's rights: http://panorama.takingitglobal.org

develop projects and be heard. In January around 100 new members from Russia joined
TIG's online community. Be sure to check the new artwork from Russia on the Russian
