~*~ 5. Global Gallery Revamp and This Month's Contest ~*~
We've revamped the Global Gallery with more ways for you to interact with the site and your
fellow artists! Not only has the Gallery's look been updated, but with the new 'My Gallery' section you
now have more control of your artwork. You can customize the way your artwork is displayed, collaborate
with other members and create collections with specific subjects (only artwork about sports, only artwork
created with acrylic paints, etc.). You can also create multiple exhibits to house all of your artwork!
We hope these new features will help you tap into your creativity and share your artistic
expressions with the TIG community!

-> This Month's Contest: Different Places, Different Spaces
For this month's theme of Travel, the Global Gallery is contest called "Different Places,
Different Spaces". A voyage named hope, an opportunity, a challenge, discovering new cultures, societies
and values, the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, or the dream of a better life far
from painful roots. Or, in one word, Travel.
Since the beginning of time people have travelled to discover new places, explore countries,
conquer resources and civilizations, to migrate, for fun, to work, to visit... Travel above all means
change; Different Places, Different Spaces.
A Hewlett-Packard scanner, printer, or camera will go to the creator of the winning piece of
artwork that best depicts the spirit of travel. Also, this submission, along with 4 runners-up, will have
their artwork exhibited on a TakingITGlobal postcard, sent to country team members and mentors all over
the world. Winners will each receive 20 of these postcards and other TakingITGlobal materials.
All artwork that is entered into the contest will be voted on by your fellow TakingITGlobal
members based on visual appeal, style, effort, originality and relevance to the topic. The contest runs
from August 1 to 22nd, with voting beginning on August 23rd. You must be under 30 to participate.

~*~ 6. Featured Article: To Travel or Not To Travel? ~*~
This month's featured article is an amazing account of ambition, life and cultural understanding.
B Wong mentions in her article the importance of travel and how it can break the barriers created by
cultural stereotyping.
As she writes the article one can begin to understand how you can use imagination to visit
different countries and meet the many diverse cultures.

~*~ 8. Launch of Youth Commission Report on Globalisation ~*~
Young people worldwide are proposing radical solutions on a range of globalisation issues,
detailed in a new report launched by the International Youth Parliament (IYP). "Highly Affected Rarely
Considered - the impacts of globalisation on young people" was simultaneously launched on Tuesday in 74
countries around the world. The report is by young people about the effects of globalisation on young
people. Submissions from 400 young people and organisations worldwide formed the basis of the report
which argues that globalisation must be used in a positive and sustainable manner.
TakingITGlobal and the International Youth Parliament enjoy a close collaboration, with
TIG writing the chapter on "Access to Technology" for the Report. "Highly Affected Rarely Considered"
